John: Sundial Glossary, a source book of dialling data,
British Sundial Society, 2004, pp 84. A glossary of some 600
terms, arranged alphabetically, used in dial making, time keeping
and astronomy. With formulae and chronology. New edition is
greatly expanded, with many more illustrations, makers'
biographies and 29 appendices. Note that this edition is available
only in print, not on CD or on-line.
Folkard M and Ward J: Sundials Australia, 2nd edition, ppl
16, 1996. Privately published: Sundials Australia, 3 Bedford
Street, Kensington Park, South Australia 5068. A well
illustrated book on the history of dialling, types of sun dial,
how to make and install, mathematics and other useful in

Walker, Jane: Make
a Sundial,
British Sundial Society, 3rd Edition, 48 pages, 2 pages of colour
photographs. Although originally written to cover school
projects, a very useful introduction to making basic types of
dial.
Wilson,
Jill: A Biographical Index of British Sundial Makers to 1920
Gives
details of over 1500 dial makers, working from the 7th to the 20th
Century, and includes the heyday of British scientific instrument
making. Essential for conducting research into dial making
Reeves S J E and Swingler E J: Computer program - Sundials
Constructor. A straightforward computer program that
operates under Windows 3.1 or above. The program covers the basic
types of dial with graphical presentation of hour lines;
declination lines are given in tabular form
