This takes place every 5 years and has been established to promote both
the production of new sundials and the restoration of old sundials. These
competitions are well supported and many dials of outstanding artistic and
technical merit are submitted. The winners receive a prize, with a
certificate and a plaque to be fixed near the dial if possible.The
2010 competition is in progress now and is closed to further entries, the
next competition will be judged during the summer of 2015 on entries
submitted before December 2014. Due to the long lead times for the design
and manufacture of new sundials ample prior notice will given on this
