Unfortunately
our photograph can not show the detail
of this interesting dial, and you will
need to visit to appreciate it fully.
There are two concentric square chapter
rings The outer has Roman numerals
for the hours of 6am to 6pm, while the
inner ring is offset by just over four
hours, marked 2am to 1pm, giving the
time in the West Indies, say Trinidad or
Martinique. A history of the
church might shed some light on the
reason for this. Across the centre
are seven declination curves, crossed by
vertical azimuth lines. There
would appear to be a motto, possibly
'NOBIS ...' across the centre, and there
has once been an inscription across the
top of the dial plate, but it is now
indecipherable. A most intriguing
dial, with much more furniture than is
commonly found. Further
information would be much appreciated,
as would a photograph taken in slanting
sunlight.
